Time is short and the water rises
Quite often, spring brings high water levels on the Taunton River which then ends up flooding the lower fields at Great River. In one particular year, 2018, a second channel formed on the Taunton River which then flowed east to west across the south western most Great River field. The next few slides capture some of these flooding conditions.
I believe this is a Red Spotted admiral in the final stages of it's emergence from the cocoon stage. Wings on it'sright side were still unfolding and drying. We spotted this butterfly on the side of the road just as we entered the Great River Preserve.
